Finally, the chicken egg drought appears to be over!

For the last month or so, there have been no chicken eggs made from our resident seven chickens.  I attribute this anomaly to our “cold” weather in January.  Our one female Peking Duck has been intermittent at laying.  But earlier this week, in the coop was a a pleasant surprise, eggs again!  And our first white eggs that came from one of the two Danish Brown hens we adopted in early December.  The person that I acquired the Danish Browns from wasn’t sure if they were still laying eggs, but the proof is in the pudding, or in this case the coop.

What’s your preference, brown or white?

Free-ranging it……..

Handsome ducks!

  1. After a couple of months without eggs, my hens have finally started giving an occasional egg. I can’t say I have any preference for egg color, but I don’t think I could ever go back to store bought eggs again.
