1,000 Pounds (June Update)

June clearly brought the largest variety of produce  harvested from the garden so far.  Apples (June drop), Beets, Bell Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Cabbage, Green Beans, Hot peppers, Kale, Lemons, Limes, Onions, Strawberries, Summer Squash, Swiss Chard and Zucchini all representing.  Two new crops were welcomed for the first time at the Apricot and Peach trees finally produced fruit this year.

The annual “June gloom”  in which we get a fair amount of cloud cover until the early afternoon was almost non-existent, with crops ripening fast in the hot summer sun.  July most likely will not have the vast array of different crops being harvested and will be dominated by the impending tomato harvest.  Last year, over 200 pounds of tomatoes were harvested from the farm in July.  I really hope the same or better harvest comes through this July, it will be crucial to meeting the 1,000 lb goal at the end of the year.

The harvest tally for the year so far:  312 lbs.

  1. That’s great! I’m sure when those melons ripen, you’ll find yourself close to goal fast. When does your season end, btw?
