A mouthful to say: Tromboncino Rampicante

Aka the trombone squash.  This is my first time growing this magnificent squash variety.  I chose it for many reasons:  It is a vigorous grower, it can be harvested as a summer squash or stored as a winter squash and as the picture shows, grows into most unusual shapes.  This 5 lb. beauty is the first one I plucked from the vine, but many more are to follow.  The vine has already encroached into the pole bean area, is eyeing the nearby melon patch and is starting its own rural sprawl outside of its raised garden bed.  There is no longer a path, it is now a vine growing zone!
