Things are steadily progressing in the garden. Collard Greens, Tomatoes, Onions, Lettuce, Carrots and Spinach are up and running. We had a LOT of rain this month and last, so I have not had to turn on the automated drip irrigation.
The tomatoes that are in now are mostly heirlooms and will probably last until early summer. The plan is to grow heat tolerant tomato varieties from seed in May and plant those out to overlap the heirlooms , growing into the hot summer months. These types have names like Headmaster and Phoenix, specifically bred for hot summer climates.
Another project underway is the demolishing of the current chicken coop. It was built in the floodplain years ago, and it is starting to rot out, so out it goes. Jury is still out if I will build a replacement coop.
